PLASTIC TRAP: Distressing deer stuck in bottle snap goes viral in Spain

A PHOTOGRAPH of a roe deer with its head stuck inside a plastic container has gone viral in Spain to remind people to dispose of their plastic waste more responsibly.

The photographer, Mentxu Sotelo, who shared the image with the TV3 station said he was ‘outraged’ when he saw the distressed animal in the Serra de l’Obac, on the Camí de la Pastora.

He said: “We found this poor roe deer that had put its head inside the plastic bottle and could not remove it.

“We tried to grab it but it fell into the ravine below and we could not do anything.

“I think that in this case, an image is worth a thousand words.

“Maybe we all think about our actions because only with our individual actions we can do much, much more than we think.”

Another distressing image of a cat with its head stuck inside a  plastic water bottle has also since gone viral.
